What fixed this for us was an AI-first tool that drafts the answer before it reaches the SME. Inventive AI drops the question into Slack with a draft already written, so your engineer just confirms or tweaks it instead of staring at an empty field. Loopio and Responsive can route to SMEs too, since that's part of workflow management, but the strong first draft is what actually got ours to engage. It also helps to make turnaround a team SLA so it isn't optional.
the pre-drafted answer is the whole trick tbh. experts ignore a blank box but will confirm a draft in seconds
honestly half of it was management too. we made it an SLA and combined with the slack drafts it finally stuck
